Pain reliever for inflammation as a result of acuteor chronic musculoskeletal disorders, musculoskeletal disorders. It is theselective cox-2 inhibitor, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).
First dosage - 0.5mg per kg of body weight, which isfollowed with maintenance dose of 0.1mg per kg of body weight daily until aclinical result is achieved. (usually within three to four days). If noimprovement in treatment within 10days, treatment is topped.
Offered as a chewable tablet, can be administereddirectly into the dog's mouth or kept in its food.
Adverse effects: Treating with any NSAID's will havethe unwanted side effects like - Loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, fecalblood, lethargy and renal failure are being reported. Frequent common sideeffects like - hemorrhagic diarrhea, hematemesis, gastrointestinal ulcerationand elevated liver enzymes.
The side effects will be shown within the 1st weekof treatment & temporary when the same side effects are being shown, pleasecontact your vet.
Warnings: Not all dogs are suitable formetaflam.there are some scenario's which are as follows & alternatetreatment is to be followed with vet option.
1) pregnant or lactating
2) suffering from gastrointestinal issues
3) younger than six weeks old or weigh less than 4kg
4) allergic to meloxicam
5) taking NSAIDs, steroidal treatments,aminoglycoside antibiotics or anticoagulants
6) dehydrated, hypovolaemic or hypotensive.
